Technical Expertise

Deep Technical Mastery
From Field to Boardroom

There are people who manage fiber networks, and there are people who have pulled cable through conduit, fusion spliced in a manhole at 2am, read an OTDR trace to find a fault at kilometer 47, and then walked back into the boardroom the next morning to negotiate a multi-million dollar IRU with a Tier 1 carrier. I am the latter.

Core Responsibilities

What I Bring to the Table

Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation

Procure global circuits, dark fiber, colocation space, and custom wireless networks. Negotiate complex MSAs and SLAs with global carriers and niche infrastructure providers.

Engineering Partnership

Act as the commercial bridge to Network & Ops teams. I speak the physical layer's language: optical budgets, DWDM hardware quirks, Layer 1/2/3 routing, and strict route diversity.

Inventory & Automation

Obsessively partner with other departments to build elegant, automated tooling for infrastructure, and champion a "Golden System of Record" mindset for inventory management. I hate operating out of spreadsheets unless absolutely necessary. Anything that can be in a system database, should be.

Lifecycle & Optimization

I have owned the asset lifecycle at multiple companies, end-to-end. I have held vendors accountable to delivery milestones, overhauled underperforming circuits, and retired legacy routes.

Qualifications

Experience & Expertise

Two decades of hands-on experience across telecom procurement, capacity management, and network operations have shaped a unique skill set that bridges technical depth with commercial excellence.

20+ years in telecom procurement, capacity management, and network operations. Purchasing from Tier-1 and Tier-2 global carriers.

Deep conceptual & operational understanding of fiber networks, Optical Wavelength Services, ROADM, Ethernet, and colocation, with the ability to confidently go toe-to-toe with a vendor's Tier 2 engineering team during pre-sales and post-sales support incidents.

Extremely passionate about strict inventory databases, with the ability to learn new skills and help build elegant systems of record.

Exceptional commercial acumen and contract redlining skills, with the ability to partner seamlessly with Legal to execute agreements efficiently and with minimal risk.

Ability to work autonomously, with a can-do, "roll-up-your-sleeves" mentality.

Ability to travel, build on-the-ground vendor relationships, and navigate regional market nuances.

Trusted Carrier Relationships

Carrier Strategy & Circuit Procurement

Strategic carrier relationships from first conversation to final contract signature.

  • Master Service Agreements (MSA) negotiation
  • Indefeasible Rights of Use (IRU) structuring
  • Wavelength and dark fiber lease agreements
  • Complex transport contracts across domestic and international markets
  • RFP/RFQ development and competitive positioning
  • Circuit lifecycle management from provisioning to acceptance testing

Insight

"My carrier relationships are not transactional. They are strategic assets built over two decades that consistently deliver access, speed, and commercial leverage that no cold RFP process alone can replicate."

Outside Plant Engineering & Fiber Path Diversity

True fiber path diversity validated at every splice point and conduit segment.

  • KMZ file review and field route validation
  • Conduit documentation auditing
  • Entrance facility design assessment
  • Meet-me room architecture and design
  • Fusion splicing and OTDR trace analysis
  • Optical power measurements and insertion loss verification

Insight

"Logical separation on a diagram is not physical diversity in the ground, and the gap between those two things is exactly where costly network failures originate. I have spent my career closing that gap."

Fiber Construction & Build Cycle Management

End-to-end fiber construction from greenfield sites to fully live circuits.

  • Permitting and right-of-way acquisition
  • Trenching and conduit installation
  • Aerial strand builds
  • Lateral construction into datacenter entrance facilities
  • Splice-through to final demarcation
  • Timeline risk management and contingency planning

Insight

"In HPC and AI datacenter development, where milestones are aggressive and connectivity delays are measured in idle compute and missed revenue, the ability to drive a build cycle with deep technical credibility is what separates teams that deliver from teams that make excuses."

Backbone, POP Strategy & Capacity Planning

Architecture-level connectivity planning for long-term scalability.

  • POP placement based on carrier density and latency targets
  • Colocation and carrier hotel facility assessment
  • Capacity modeling against growth projections
  • Circuit augmentation program planning
  • Dark fiber IRU vs. lit wavelength trade-off analysis
  • Multi-vendor resilience strategy

Insight

"In HPC and AI environments where traffic growth can be sudden, steep, and unforgiving, proactive capacity management is not a best practice aspiration. It is an operational survival requirement."

Peering, Interconnection & Site Selection

Strategic IX participation and datacenter connectivity assessment.

  • Internet Exchange (IX) participation strategy
  • Peering economics analysis
  • Cross-connect availability assessment
  • LOA workflows and PeeringDB management
  • IRR databases and BGP community frameworks
  • Datacenter site selection connectivity assessment

Insight

"Connectivity belongs at the very front of any site evaluation process, not as an afterthought once the lease has already been signed and options have significantly narrowed."
